===== GA65:75 – DUAS MEDITAÇÕES SOBRE A CIÊNCIA =====

Há hoje dois e apenas dois caminhos de uma meditação sobre "a ciência".

Um deles concebe a ciência não como a instituição agora presente, mas como uma possibilidade determinada do desdobramento e da construção de um saber, cuja essência mesma só se vê enraizada em uma fundamentação mais originária da verdade do seer. Essa fundamentação realiza-se como primeira confrontação com o início do pensamento ocidental e vem a ser, ao mesmo tempo, o outro início da história ocidental. A meditação assim dirigida sobre a ciência retorna de maneira igualmente decidida para o sido, assim como ela antecipa de maneira ousada um porvir. Ela não se movimenta em parte alguma na discussão de algo presente e de sua fabricação imediata. Calculada a partir do presente, essa meditação sobre a ciência se perde no efetivamente irreal, o que de imediato significa também para todo o cálculo o impossível (cf. A autoafirmação da universidade alemã, GA16).

O outro caminho, que estaria prelineado nas seguintes sentenças diretrizes , concebe a ciência em sua constituição atual real e efetiva. Essa meditação tenta conceber a essência moderna da ciência segundo as aspirações que lhe são pertinentes. Como meditação, porém, ela também não é nenhuma mera descrição de um estado presente à vista, mas a exposição de um processo, na medida em que esse processo conflui para uma decisão sobre a verdade da ciência. Essa meditação permanece dirigida pelos mesmos critérios de medida que a primeira e não é senão o reverso daquela. [GA65PT:141-142]

Today there are two and only two ways of being mindful of "science."

One way grasps science, Not as the establishment that is now extant, but as one specific possibility of unfolding and building of a knowing whose essence is primarily rooted in a more originary grounding of the truth of be-ing. This grounding is enacted by coming to terms with the beginning of Western thinking for the first time and becomes at the same time the other beginning of Western history. Oriented in this way, mindfulness of science goes just as decidedly back into what has been as, wagering everything, it reaches out into what is futural. It never operates within a discussion of what belongs to the present and its immediate achievement. As a reckoning with what belongs to the present, this mindfulness of science gets lost in what is not actual, which is at the same time also what is impossible for all reckoning and calculation (cf. Self-Assertion of the German University, GA16).

The other way, which will be delineated in the following guiding propositions, grasps science in its present and actual constitution. This mindfulness tries to grasp the essence of modern science in terms of strivings that belong to this essence. But as mindfulness, it is also not a simple description of an extant state. It is instead elaboration of a process, insofar as this process aims at a decision concerning the truth of science. This mindfulness remains led by the same standards as the first one and is only its reverse. [GA65EM:100]

es gibt heute zwei Wege und nur zwei Wege einer Besinnung auf »die Wissenschaft«.

Der eine begreift die Wissenschaft Nicht als die Jetzt vorhandene Einrichtung, sondern als eine bestimmte Möglichkeit der Entfaltung und des Aufbaues eines Wissens, dessen Wesen Selbst erst in einer ursprünglicheren Begründung der Wahrheit des Seyns verwurzelt ist. Diese Begründung vollzieht sich als erstmalige Auseinandersetzung mit dem Anfang des abendländischen Denkens und wird zugleich zum anderen Anfang der abendländischen Geschichte. Die so gerichtete Besinnung auf die Wissenschaft geht ebenso entschieden zurück in ein Gewesenes, Wie sie alles wagend ausgreift in ein Künftiges. Sie bewegt sich nirgends in der Erörterung eines Gegenwärtigen und seiner unmittelbaren Bewerkstelligung. Vom Gegenwärtigen aus gerechnet verliert sich diese Besinnung auf die Wissenschaft im Unwirklichen, Was für alle Rechnung sogleich auch das Unmögliche bedeutet (vgl. Die Selbstbehauptung der deutschen Universität, GA16).

Der Andere Weg, der in den folgenden Leitsätzen vorgezeichnet sei, begreift die Wissenschaft in ihrer jetzigen wirklichen Verfassung. Diese Besinnung versucht, das neuzeitliche Wesen der Wissenschaft nach den ihm zugehörigen Strebungen zu fassen. Aber als Besinnung ist auch sie keine bloße Beschreibung eines vorhandenen Zustandes, sondern die Herausstellung eines Vorganges, sofern er auf eine Entscheidung über die Wahrheit der Wissenschaft zutreibt. Diese Besinnung bleibt von denselben Maßstäben wie die erste geleitet und ist nur die Kehrseite zu jener. [GA65:144]
