Vemos que, na história da proveniência do pensamento do valor, a transformação da idea em perceptio é decisiva. E somente por meio da metafísica da subjetividade que o traço essencial de início ainda encoberto e retido da idea - ser o elemento possibilitador e condicionante - é liberado e colocado, então, em jogo de uma maneira desobstruída. O mais íntimo da história da metafísica moderna consiste no processo por meio do qual o ser obtém o traço essencial inconteste de ser condição de possibilidade do ente, isto é, dito em termos modernos, do re-presentado, daquilo que se encontra contraposto, ou seja, dos objetos. O passo decisivo nesse processo foi dado pela metafísica de Kant. No interior da metafísica moderna, a metafísica kantiana não é apenas o ponto central em termos cronológicos, mas também em termos histó-rico-essenciais; e isso segundo o modo como nela o começo junto a Descartes é acolhido e transformado na confrontação com Leibniz. A posição metafísica fundamental de Kant é exposta no princípio que o próprio Kant define na Crítica da razão pura como o princípio supremo de sua fundamentação da metafísica (A 158, B 197). O princípio diz: «As condições de possibilidade da experiência em geral são ao mesmo tempo as condições de possibilidade dos objetos da experiência.» (p. 174)

We see that in the history of the provenance of valuative thought the transformation of idea into perceptio becomes decisive. Only through the metaphysics of subjectivity is the at first largely veiled and reserved essential trait of idea—the trait of being something that makes possible and conditions—transposed into the free region and then put into uninhibited play. What is innermost in the history of modern metaphysics consists in the process through which Being preserves the uncontested essential trait of being the condition of the possibility of beings; that is, in a modern sense, the possibility of what is represented; that is, of what stands over against us; that is, objects. Kant’s metaphysics takes the decisive step in that process. His metaphysics is the midpoint within modern metaphysics, Not only in terms of temporal reckoning but also in its essential history, in the way it takes up the beginning in Descartes, as altered in the dialogue with Leibniz. Kant’s (175) fundamental metaphysical position is expressed in the principle that Kant himself defined in the Critique of Pure Reason as the highest principle in his grounding of metaphysics (A 158, B 197). The principle states, “The conditions of the possibility of experience in general are at the same time conditions of the possibility of the objccts of experience.” (p. 174-175)

Wir sehen, daß in der Geschichte der Herkunft des Wertgedankens der Umschlag der idea zur perceptio entscheidend wird. Erst durch die Metaphysik der Subjektivität wird der Zunächst noch verhüllte und zurückgehaltene Wesenszug der idea - das Ermöglichende und Bedingende zu Sein - ins Freie und dann ins ungehemmte Spiel gesetzt. Das Innerste der Geschichte der neuzeitlichen Metaphysik besteht in dem Vorgang, durch den das Sein den unbestrittenen Wesenszug erhält, Bedingung der Möglichkeit des Seienden, d. h. neuzeitlich des vor-gestellten, d. h. des Entgegenstehenden, d. h. der Gegenstände zu sein. Den entscheidenden Schritt in diesem Vorgang vollzieht die Metaphysik Kants. Sie ist innerhalb der neuzeitlichen Metaphysik Nicht nur der Zeitrechnung nach, sondern wesensgeschichtlich, in der Art, Wie in ihr der Beginn bei Descartes aufgenommen und in der Auseinandersetzung mit Leibniz verwandelt wird, die Mitte. Die metaphysische Grundstellung Kants spricht sich in dem Satz aus, den Kant Selbst in der »Kritik der reinen Vernunft« als den obersten Satz seiner Grundlegung der Metaphysik bestimmt (A 158, B 197). Der Satz lautet:

»Die Bedingungen der Möglichkeit der Erfahrung überhaupt sind zugleich Bedingungen der Möglichkeit der Gegenstände der Erfahrung. « (p. 230-231)
