A palavra grega philosophia remonta à palavra philosophos. Originariamente esta palavra é um adjetivo como philargyros, o que ama a prata, como philotimos, o que ama a honra. A palavra philosophos foi presumivelmente criada por Heráclito. Isto quer dizer que para Heráclito ainda não existe a philosophia. Um aner philosophos não é um homem ‘filosófico’. O adjetivo grego philosophos significa algo absolutamente diferente que os adjetivos filosófico, philosophique. Um aner philosophos é aquele, hos philei ta sophon; philein, que ama a sophon significa aqui, no sentido de Heráclito: homologein, falar assim como o Logos fala, quer dizer, corresponder ao Logos. Este corresponder está em acordo com o sophon. Acordo é harmonia. O elemento específico de philein do amor, pensado por Heráclito, é a harmonia que se revela na recíproca integração de dois seres, nos laços que os unem originariamente numa disponibilidade de um para com o outro.

O aner philosophos ama o sophon. O que esta palavra diz para Heráclito é difícil traduzir. Podemos, porém, elucidá-lo a partir da própria explicação de Heráclito. De acordo com isto, ta sophon significa: Hen Panta ‘Um (é) Tudo’. Tudo quer dizer aqui: Panta ta onta, a totalidade, o todo do ente. Hen, o Um, designa: o que é um, o único, o que tudo une. Unido é, entretanto, todo o ente no ser. O sophon significa: todo ente é no ser. Dito mais precisamente: o ser é o ente. Nesta locução, o “é” traz uma carga transitiva e designa algo assim como “recolhe”. O ser recolhe o ente pelo fato de que é o ente. O ser é o recolhimento — Logos. (1999, p. 31-32)

Le mot grec φιλοσοφία fait retour au mot φιλόσοφος. Ce’ mot est originellement un adjectif, comme le mot φιλάργυρος, ami de l’argent, le mot φιλότιμος, ami de l’honneur. Le mot φιλόσοφος a été vraisemblablement frappé par Héraclite. Cela signifie que, pour Héraclite, il n’y a pas encore de φιλοσοφία. Un ἀνήρ φιλόσοφος n’est pas un homme « philosophique ». L’adjectif grec φιλόσοφος dit quelque chose (327) de tout autre que les adjectifs philosophique, philosophisch. Un ἀνήρ φιλόσοφος est celui ὅς φιλεῖ τὸ σοφόν, qui aime le σοφόν; φιλεῖν, aimer, signifie ici, au sens d’Héraclite, ὁμολογεῖν, parler comme parle le Λόγος, c’est-à-dire correspondre au Λόγος. Cette correspondance est en accord avec le σοφόν. Accord, c’est ἁρμονία. Ceci, qu’un être s’ajointe à l’autre dans la réciprocité, que les deux sont l’un et l’autre originellement ajointés parce qu’il leur est dévolu d’être ensemble, cette ἁρμονία est ce qui caractérise le φιλεῖν tel que le pense Héraclite — ce qu’est aimer.

L’ἀνήρ φιλόσοφος aime le σοφόν. Ce que ce mot dit selon Héraclite est difficile à traduire. Mais nous pouvons l’élucider en suivant l’ihterprétation propre d’Héraclite lui-même. Conformément à quoi τὸ σοφόν dit ceci : Ἕ Πάντα, « Un (est) Tout ». « Tout » veut dire ici : Πάντα τὰ ὄντα, l’ensemble, la totalité de l’étant. Ἕ, l’Un, veut dire : ce qui est un, l’unique, ce qui unit tout. Mais, uni, est tout l’étant en l’être. Le σοφόν dit : tout l’étant est en l’être. Dit avec plus d’acuité : l’être est l’étant. Ici « est » parle au sens transitif et ne veut pas moins dire que « recueille ». L’être recueille l’étant en cela qu’il est l’étant. L’être est le recueil — Λόγος ].

The Greek word philosophia goes back to the word (45) philosophos. This word is originally an adjective like philarguros, loving silver, like philotomos, loving honor. The word philosophos Was presumably coined by Heraclitus. This indicates that for Heraclitus philosophia did Not yet exist. An aner philosophos is not a “philosophical” Man. The Greek adjective philosophos expresses something completely different from the adjective philosophical. An aner philosophos is hos philei to sophon, he who loves the sophon; philein, to love, signifies here, in the Heraclitean sense, homolegein, to speak in the way in which the Logos speaks, in correspondence with the Logos. This correspondence is in accord with the sophon. Accordance is harmonia. That one being reciprocally unites itself with another, that both are originally united to each other because they are at each other’s disposal — this harmonia is the distinctive feature of philein, of “loving” in the Heraclitean sense.

The aner philosophos loves the sophon. What this word means for Heraclitus is hard to translate. But we can explain it according to Heraclitus’ own (47) interpretation. According to this the sophon means, Hen Panta, “One (is) all.” “All" means here, all things that exist, the whole, the totality of being. Hen, one, means, the one, the unique, the all-uniting. But all being is united in Being. The sophon says — all being is in Being. To put it more pointedly — being is Being. In this instance “is” speaks transitively and means approximately “gathered together,” "collected.” Being gathers being together in so far as it is being. Being is the gathering together — Logos.

Das griechische Wort φιλοσοφία geht auf das Wort φιλόσοφος zurück. Dieses Wort ist ursprünglich ein Adiectivum Wie φιλάργυρος, silberliebend, wie φιλότιμος, ehrliebend. Das Wort (14) φιλόσοφος wurde vermutlich von Heraklit geprägt. Dies besagt: für Heraklit gibt es noch Nicht die φιλοσοφία. Ein ἀνήρ φιλόσοφος ist nicht ein »philosophischer« Mensch. Das griechische Adiectivum φιλόσοφος sagt etwas völlig anderes als die Adiectiva philosophisch, philosophique. Ein ἀνήρ φιλόσοφος ist derjenige, ὅς φιλεῖ τὸ σοφόν, der das σοφόν liebt; φιλεῖ lieben bedeutet Hier im Sinne Heraklits: όμολογεΐν, so Sprechen, wie der Λόγος spricht, d. h. dem Λόγος entsprechen. Dieses Entsprechen steht im Einklang mit dem σοφόν. Einklang ist άρμονία. Dies, daß ein Wesen dem Anderen wechselweise sich fügt, daß sich beide ursprünglich einander fügen, weil sie zueinander verfügt sind, diese άρμονία ist das Auszeichnende des heraklitisch gedachten φιλεῖν, des Liebens.

Der ἀνήρ φιλόσοφος liebt das σοφόν. Was dieses Wort für Heraklit sagt, ist schwer zu übersetzen. Aber Wir können es nach Heraklits eigener Auslegung erläutern. Demnach sagt τὸ σοφόν dieses: Έν Πάντα, »Eines (ist) Alles«. »Alles«, das meint hier: Πάντα τὰ ὄντα, das Ganze, das All des Seienden. Έν, das Eins meint: das Eine, Einzige, alles Einigende. Einig aber ist alles Seiende im Sein. Das σοφόν sagt: Alles Seiende ist im Sein. Schärfer gesagt: Das Sein ist das Seiende. Hierbei spricht »ist« transitiv und besagt soviel wie »versammelt«. Das Sein versammelt das Seiende darin, daß es Seiendes ist. Das Sein ist die Versammlung — Λόγος. (p. 13-14)
