(...) Ao ver a tribuna, "algo acontece"; "estou lá com todo o meu eu"; "é uma experiência vivida especificamente para mim". Esta é a designação no ver hermenêutico do ver-a-tribuna, e a experiência vivida assim vista hermeneuticamente é um acontecimento. Mas não é o acontecimento de algo que passa e que é refletidamente apresentado, mas antes um acontecimento da experiência vivida com a qual eu me identifico quando a vejo hermeneuticamente. Este carácter mais próprio do acontecimento, que lhe é próprio e não é uma experiência vivida refletidamente objectivada, não é um ocorrer (Vor-gang) mas um acontecer (Ereignis). Esta palavra é um termo que determina a estrutura essencial da experiência vivida, sobretudo a experiência vivida primária do mundo circundante. Portanto, Ereignis não designa aqui aquilo que, de outra forma, na nossa língua, designamos por evento, uma ocorrência algo saliente. Temos ainda de clarificar o que diz Ereignis enquanto estrutura conceitual. Antes de clarificar, deve ser imediatamente sublinhado que um "resíduo de Ereignis" está presente na experiência vivida do questionamento. Pois a experiência vivida do questionamento não é uma experiência vivida primária, mas sim derivada. São apenas as experiências vividas primárias e fundamentais que mostram o caráter completo e não abreviado do Ereignis, enquanto a experiência vivida de questionamento que é derivada da experiência vivida do mundo circundante mostra um caráter reduzido do Ereignis.

Agora, o que é que a palavra Er-eignis diz mais exatamente? Que significado tem o elemento -eignis? Poder-se-ia pensar que er-eignen significa an-eignen. Eu torno a experiência de vida própria para mim significaria então: Eu adquiro as experiências vividas de um lugar ou de outro, para viver a partir das experiências vividas assim adquiridas. As minhas experiências vividas adquiridas, próprias, seriam então a minha propriedade (Eigentum no sentido habitual). Mas é este significado de -eignis/propriedade como propriedade que é rejeitado.

As experiências vividas são, na sua essência, Er-eignisse, na medida em que "vivem a partir de dentro do próprio e a vida vive apenas assim". O elemento nominativo -eignis/own aponta assim para o próprio (das Eigene) e não (48) para a propriedade. Na medida em que a experiência vivida vive a partir do seu próprio, ela é como experiência vivida Er-eignis, de acordo com a sua essência. Em Er-eignis, o elemento-palavra -eigen nomeia o que é próprio da experiência vivida e do viver; o prefixo er- de Er-eignis é o mesmo que o prefixo er- da experiência vivida (Er-lebnis). Er-, ur-, como prefixo, significa: originário, primordial. Porque vive a partir do próprio, o viver originário como vivência é Er-eignis. entendidas e interpretadas hermeneuticamente, as vivências são Er-eignisse porque vivem a partir do próprio do viver e da vivência. O conceito pré-teórico de Er-eignis que se obtém hermeneuticamente é determinado, não a partir de "propriedade/Eigentum", mas antes a partir de "próprio/das Eigene". O que é próprio da experiência vivida do mundo circundante é a sua essência, a sua essência mais própria, e, portanto, aquilo a que Heidegger chamará mais tarde a existência (Existenz) do Dasein. Deste modo, "Ereignis" também não é um conceito hermenêutico que demonstra exaustivamente o próprio e o mais próprio do viver e do viver-experiência. Pelo contrário, o conceito "Er-eignis" aponta apenas para o que é próprio do viver e do viver-experiência, que ainda tem de ser revelado. A tarefa da ciência filosófica primordial é uma análise hermenêutico-fenomenológica do que é próprio do viver e do viver-experiência pré-teóricos. Uma tal análise do viver e do viver-experiência na sua essência Er-eignis é o primeiro e decisivo passo de uma análise hermenêutico-fenomenológica do Dasein.

Esta elucidação de Er-eignis como essência do viver e do viver-experiência também mostra claramente que este conceito inicial de Er-eignis deve ser estritamente diferenciado do conceito posterior de ser-histórico de Ereignis. Em Er-eignis (a palavra usada em 1919), como essência do viver e do viver-experiência, -eignis tem o significado de próprio e mais próprio; ao passo que, em Er-eignis (a palavra usada a partir da década de 1930) como a pertença-junto do enowning lançar (ao Dasein) e do enowned lançar-abrir do Da-sein, -eignis/own diz tanto como "ownhood (Eigentum)". Pois, a partir do enowning como enowning throw, o ser dos humanos — como o enowned throwing-open — torna-se, como en-owned, a propriedade da verdade enowning do ser. Por isso, é um erro de interpretação grosseiro pensar que o conceito histórico do ser de Heidegger de enowning (dos anos 30) está ligado à sua hermenêutica inicial do viver no seu carácter Ereignis.

(...) In seeing the lectern, "something does happen"; "I am there with my full I"; "it is a lived-experience specifically for me." That is the designation in hermeneutic seeing of seeing-the-lectern, and the lived-experience thus seen hermeneutically is a happening. But it is Not the happening of something that passes by that is reflectively presented, but rather a happening of lived-experience with which I go along when I see it hermeneutically. This ownmost character of happening, which is own to it and is not a reflectively objectified lived-experience, is not a passing-by (Vor-gang) but a happening (Ereignis). This word is a term that determines the essential structure of the lived-experience, above all the primary lived-experience of the surrounding world. Therefore Ereignis here does not name that which, otherwise in our language, we name an event, a somewhat salient occurrence. We have yet to clarify what Ereignis as a conceptual structure says. Prior to clarifying, it must immediately be stressed that a "remainder of Ereignis" is present in the lived-experience of questioning. For the lived-experience of questioning is not a primary but rather a derived lived-experience. It is only the primary and fundamental lived-experiences that show the full, unabbreviated character of Ereignis, whereas the lived-experience of questioning that is derivative of the lived-experience of the surrounding world shows a reduced character of Ereignis.

In the hermeneutic engagement with the happening of enactment of the lived-experience of the surrounding world, the living-experiencing does not pass by me (mir Vorbeigehen) (pro-cess (Vor-gang)) as the reflected lived-experience; "rather I myself make it own (er-eigne) to me" (47) — that is, the lived-experience "is owned according to its essence" (er-eignet sich seinem Wesen nach). The essential character of lived-experience can be marked in two ways: I experience in that I make the lived-experience own to me, or the lived-experience is owned. As essence of lived-experience, Er-eignis means: I make the lived-experience own for myself, the living-experience is owned. When I look into the lived-experience hermeneutically, I do not understand it as an ob-jectified pro-cess, but "rather as something entirely new." With a view to what is own (das Eigene) to lived-experience, that which is entirely new takes the name Er-eignis. It is something entirely new because the Er-eignis character of lived-experience has never been experienced as the essence of lived-experiences. For up until now lived-experience and living-experience were only the theme of a reflecting ob-jectifying, which closes off the Er-eignis character of lived-experience. The a-theoretical, hermeneutic understanding is an entirely new means of access to lived-experiences, in which these show themselves for the first time in their Ereignis character, which is otherwise kept hidden. When I look "straightforwardly," that is, without reflective objectification, but not without methodological way of access — understanding hermeneutically — I see "nothing psychic," because psychic being is a reflectively ob-jectified lived-experience, which as such keeps itself locked up with regard to its Ereignis character.

Now, what does the word Er-eignis say more precisely? What meaning does the word element -eignis have? One might think that er-eignen means an-eignen. I make the living-experience own to me would then mean: I acquire the lived-experiences from somewhere or other, in order to live from the lived-experiences acquired like that. My acquired, own lived-experiences would then be my property (Eigentum in the usual meaning). But it is this meaning of -eignis/own as property that is rejected.

Lived-experiences are in their essence Er-eignisse, insofar as they "live from within the own and life lives only thusly." The word element -eignis/own points thus to the own (das Eigene) and not (48) to property. Insofar as lived-experience lives from within its own, it is as lived-experience Er-eignis, according to its essence. in Er-eignis, the word element -eigen names what is own to living-experience and to living; the prefix er- from Er-eignis is the same as the prefix er-from lived-experience (Er-lebnis). Er-, ur-, as prefix means: originary, primordial. Because it lives from within the own, originary living as living-experience is Er-eignis. understood and interpreted hermeneutically, lived-experiences are Er-eignisse because they live from within the own of living and living-experience. The pre-theoretical concept of Er-eignis that is gained hermeneutically is determined, not from "property/Eigentum," but rather from "own/das Eigene." i enact my lived-experiences, my respective living-experience, from what is own to living and living-experience. What is own to lived-experience of the surrounding world is its essence, its ownmost essence, and thus what Heidegger later will call the existence (Existenz) of Dasein. In this way "Ereignis" is also not a hermeneutic concept that demonstrates exhaustively the own and ownmost of living and living-experience. Rather, the concept "Er-eignis" points only to what is own in living and living-experience, which has still to be revealed. The task of philosophical primordial science is a hermeneutic-phenomenological analytic of what is own to pre-theoretical living and living-experience. Such an analytic of living and living-experience in its Er-eignis essence is the first and decisive step of a hermeneutic-phenomenological analytic of Dasein.

This elucidation of Er-eignis as essence of living and living-experience also shows clearly that this early concept of Er-eignis must be strictly differentiated from the later being-historical concept of Ereignis. In Er-eignis (the word used in 1919), as essence of living and living-experience, -eignis has the meaning of own and ownmost; whereas, in Er-eignis (the word used from the 1930s onward) as the belonging-together of enowning throw (to Dasein) and Da-Sein's enowned throwing-open, -eignis/own says as much as "ownhood (Eigentum)." For from the enowning as enowning throw, the being of humans — as the enowned throwing-open — becomes, as en-owned, the ownhood of the enowning truth of being. Therefore, it is a coarse misinterpretation to fancy that Heidegger's being-historical concept of enowning (from the 1930s) is tied to his early hermeneutic of living in its Ereignis character.
