Caso se chegue, como se precisa chegar, ao reconhecimento da essência predeterminada da ciência moderna, ao reconhecimento de seu caráter de funcionamento puro e necessariamente passível de ser colocado a nosso serviço e das instituições necessárias para isso, então no campo de visão desse reconhecimento é preciso esperar por um progresso gigantesco das ciências, sim, é preciso até mesmo contar com ele. Esses progressos trarão consigo a espoliação e a utilização da terra, a criação e o adestramento do homem para o interior de estados ainda hoje irrepresentáveis, cuja entrada em cena não pode ser impedida ou mesmo apenas retida por meio de nenhuma lembrança romântica de algo anterior e diverso. Esses progressos, porém, também serão cada vez mais raramente assinalados como algo espantoso e que nos chama a atenção, por exemplo, como realizações culturais, mas acontecem e são consumidos em série e, por assim dizer, como mistérios dos negócios, sendo imediatamente divulgados em seus resultados. É somente quando a ciência tiver alcançado essa discrição consonante com o funcionamento que lhe é característico em seu desdobramento, que ela se mostrará lá onde ela mesma se torna impulsionadora: ela se dissolve, então, concomitantemente em meio à dissolução de todo ente mesmo. Com vistas a esse fim, que será um estado final muito duradouro e que se assemelha sempre com um início, a ciência se encontra hoje no seu melhor começo. Kommt es, Wie es kommen muß, zur Anerkennung des vorbestimmten Wesens der neuzeitlichen Wissenschaft, Ihres reinen und notwendig dienstbaren Betriebscharakters und der hierzu benötigten Einrichtungen, dann muß im Gesichtskreis dieser Anerkennung künftig ein riesiger Fortschritt der Wissenschaften zu Erwarten, ja sogar zu errechnen Sein. Diese Fortschritte Werden die Ausbeutung und Nutzung der Erde, die Züchtung und Abrichtung des Menschen in heute noch unvorstellbare Zustände bringen, deren Eintritt durch keine romantische Erinnerung an Früheres und Anderes verhindert oder auch nur aufgehalten werden kann. Aber diese Fortschritte werden auch immer seltener noch als ein Überraschendes und Auffälliges, etwa als Kulturleistungen, verzeichnet werden, sondern reihenweise und gleichsam als Geschäftsgeheimnisse erfolgen und verbraucht und in ihren Ergebnissen vertrieben werden. Erst wenn die Wissenschaft diese betriebsmäßige Unauffälligkeit des Abrollens erreicht hat, ist sie dort, wo sie Selbst hintreibt: sie löst sich dann in die Auflösung alles Seienden selbst mit auf. Im Ausblick auf dieses Ende, das ein sehr dauerhafter Endzustand sein wird, der immer wie ein Anfang aussieht, steht die Wissenschaft heute in ihrem besten Beginn.
