+Enquanto indicativa, a definição é caracterizada igualmente como uma tal definição que precisamente não fornece plena e propriamente o objeto a ser determinado, mas apenas indica, enquanto autenticamente indicativa, e o expõe de maneira precisamente principial. Na indicação está implícito que a concreção não se dá sem mais, mas representa uma tarefa toda própria e uma tarefa para uma realização com uma constituição própria. Correspondentemente a isso, o conteúdo definitório deve ser conquistado, assim, como princípio. O seguinte caráter da definição fornece a indicação positiva de que ela é uma definição indicativa “formal”.
+“Indicado formalmente” não significa, de algum modo, apenas representado, tido em mente, apontado (angedeutet), que estaria livre para receber o próprio objeto em algum lugar qualquer e de modo qualquer no ter; mas indicado de tal modo que aquilo que é dito tem o caráter do “formal”, impróprio (uneigentlich), mas justo nesse “in” está igualmente de forma positiva o assinalar (Anweisung). O vazio de conteúdo em sua estrutura de sentido é igualmente aquilo que dá a direção de execução.
+Na indicação formal encontra-se uma ligação bem determinada; nela se diz que eu me encontro nessa, numa direção de princípio bem determinada, que, se quiser chegar ao verdadeiro e próprio, só há o caminho de provar e realizar o que foi indicado impropriamente, seguir a dica. um provar, um sacar dele: justo um tal que, quanto mais lança mão, não menos alcança (retirando), mas, ao contrário, quanto mais radical a compreensão do vazio como sendo assim formal, tanto mais rico se torna, porque é tal que conduz ao concreto.
+Não é permitido portanto ajudar à dica de maneira distorcida. Para o caráter da dica e da remissão, a determinação “formal” significa algo decisivo! Objeto “vazio” significa: (42) e no entanto decisivo! Não arbitrário e sem principiar, mas justo “vazio” e determinando direção, indicando, ligando.

Estar no ponto de salto ou empenhar-se totalmente decidido para isso!

+It is characteristic of an indicative Definition that it precisely does Not present fully and properly the object which is to be determined. Indeed, it merely indicates, but, as genuinely indicative, it does give in advance the principle of the object. An indicative definition includes the sense that concretion is not to be possessed there without further ado but that the concrete instead presents a task of its own kind and a peculiarly constituted task of actualization. Accordingly, the definitory content must be gained along the lines of this approach. The positive reference to it is provided by the further character of the definition, namely, that it is “formally” indicative. (Seen from what is proper, that which is given in advance is precisely of a genuine origination; explicitly, however, it is first and necessarily already declined, though indeed genuinely held fast in the decline.)
+The term, “formally indicated,” does not mean merely represented, meant, or intimated in some way or other, such that it would remain completely open how and where we are to gain possession of the object itself. “Indicated” here means that that which is said is of the character of the “formal,” and so is admittedly improper. Yet precisely in this “im-” there resides at the same time a positive reference. The empty content in its sense-structure is at the same time that which provides direction toward the actualization.

The opposite is not the “material,” the accidental content. Nor is formal the same as the eidetic, and the use of that term, in the sense of “universal generality,” is altogether problematic in phenomenology. “Formal” refers to a way of “approach” toward actualizing the maturation of an original fulfillment of what Was indicated.

+Es liegt in der formalen Anzeige eine ganz bestimmte Bindung; es wird in ihr gesagt, daß Ich an der und einer ganz bestimmten Ansatzrichtung stehe, daß es, soll es zum Eigentlichen kommen, nur den Weg gibt, das uneigentlich Angezeigte auszukosten und zu erfüllen, der Anzeige zu folgen. Ein Auskosten, aus ihm Herausholen: gerade ein solches, daß es, je mehr es zugreift, nicht umso weniger (abnehmend) gewinnt, sondern umgekehrt, je radikaler das Verstehen des Leeren als so formalen, desto reicher wird es, weil es so ist, daß es ins Konkrete führt.
+Es darf also der Anzeige nicht verkehrterweise aufgeholfen werden! Für den Anzeige- und Verweisungscharakter besagt die Bestimmung » formal« etwas Entscheidendes! Gegenstand »leer « bedeutet: und doch entscheidend! Nicht beliebig und ohne Ansatz, sondern gerade »leer« und Richtung bestimmend, anzeigend, bindend.

Das eigentlich ansetzende Verstehen ist nicht im vollen Sinne Erfassen des Seinssinnes, sondern gerade den Ansatzcharakter, aber diesen und gerade diesen. Auf dem Sprung Sein bzw. darauf entschlossen ausgehen!
+»Formal«, das »Formale« ist ein solcher Gehalt, daß es die Anzeige in die Richtung verweist, den Weg vorzeichnet. »Formal-anzeigend« Hier in der Philosophie nicht zu trennen. Das Formale ist nicht »Form« und Anzeige deren Inhalt, sondern »formal« ist Bestimmungsansatz; Ansatzcharakter!
