+Heidegger uses the distinction between existentialia and categories to frame his treatment of being-in. Thought of as a category, that is, in terms of non-Dasein things (specifically, present-at-Hand objects), being-in means to be located within another object in space, the way a milk jug is in the refrigerator. Now, if existentialia and categories are as radically different as Heidegger says, then whatever our being-in is, it can't be this common-sense notion. "Being-in, on the other hand, is a state of Dasein's Being; it is an existentiale. So one cannot think of it as the Being-present-at-hand of some corporeal Thing (such as a human body) 'in' an entity which is present-at-hand" (79/54). (p. 26)
